Taking a Screenshot on Windows?

On a Windows 10 computer, you can use several methods to take a screenshot. You can capture the entire screen or just a part of it. The simplest way is to use the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard. There are several variations of this function within Windows. Using the Print Screen key copies the entire screen, which you can then paste into an image viewing program like Paint or Microsoft Word.

Using Alt + Print Screen captures just the active window, which you can paste into another program. The shortcut Windows key + Shift + S allows you to select and copy a specific part of the screen to the clipboard. However, make sure you are using the latest version of Windows 10 to use this shortcut. Using Windows key + Print Screen saves an image file of the entire screen directly to a subfolder in your Pictures folder.

Taking a Screenshot on Mac?

Mac users can take screenshots and edit them afterward. You can also share these screenshots with others. Screenshots are automatically named with the date and time they were taken. If your Mac was purchased in 2018 or has been updated, you can also record video of the screen. Advanced screenshot options can be accessed from the menu.

To take a screenshot on a Mac, use a simple keyboard shortcut, which varies depending on what you want to capture:

  • “Shift + Command + 3” captures the entire screen.
  • “Shift + Command + 4” allows you to select a portion of the screen to capture.
  • “Shift + Command + 5” opens the screenshot menu, where you can choose to capture the entire screen, a selected window, or a selected portion of the screen. You can also record video of the entire or a portion of the screen.
